Scholarship Program
- Introduction
To attract young talented people with cross-disciplinary background to be devoted to public policy research, The Institute for International Affairs (IIA) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (hereinafter referred to as "the Institute") provides the IIA Scholarship to support the qualified PhD candidates of CUHK-Shenzhen.
The candidates who have successfully gained the IIA scholarship will be entitled as “IIA Fellow”.
- Program
Who can apply | Candidates who have received an unconditional offer from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and have decided to pursue a PhD degree at the University. (Those who have received full funding from other programs are not eligible for this funding) |
Type | Full scholarship, half scholarship and stipend. (The type of funding will be determined based on a comprehensive evaluation by the committee) |
Duration of scholarship | Normally 3 years, no more than 4 years, paid in installments by semester or academic year. |
Other requirements | IIA Scholarship recipients shall provide research-related services to the Institute for the duration of the grant. Detailed responsibilities will be stated on the IIA Scholarship Agreement between the Institute and recipient. |
- Application Process
The applicant shall go through the process of a) online application; b) preliminary screening by the Institute; c) interview by the IIA committee. The applicant should carefully read the scholarship handbook of the year published by the Institute, and submit all the materials that are required. The applicant shall be responsible for the authenticity of the materials.
The Institute will inform the candidates who have passed the preliminary screening for an interview by the IIA committee. The final results will be sent to the candidate's program director for approval first, and then to the IIA Director for final approval. Candidate who has passed all the process will sign a formal agreement with the Institute.
