Research Positions - The Institute for Internationl Affairs
Institute introduction:
Taking as its philosophy “To study the world, to explore the way ahead, to learn through experience the order of things, and to govern wisely with sound statecraft”, the Internationl Affair Institute strives to be a think tank of strategic importance in academic and policy research. Based in Shenzhen, it will provide insightful and timely policy analysis and consultancy for the central as well as the local government, and train outstanding talents to take on a nuanced national and a global perspective.
Position Available:
Senior Research Fellow/Research Fellow/Associate Research Fellow/Assistant Research Fellow/ Visiting Scholar
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Conducting academic and policy research in public policy, global affairs, international relations, international political economics, etc., and undertaking project management;
2. Participating in the activities hosted by the institute, including seminars, workshops, and public lectures;
3. Attending the collaboration with other research institutes around the world;
4. Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements:
1. A PhD degree in related disciplines, preferably political science, economics, and sociology; Applicants with excellent research experience in the following fields are preferred: Public Policy, International relations, International Political Economics, big data or a related discipline, or applicants with Science and Engineering background but are interested in the above-stated fields.
2. Able to use English as working language and write research papers;
3. Solid background in scientific research and high-quality paper publication record;
4. Able to communicate and cooperate with colleagues in different fields, and abide by academic ethics;
5. The visiting scholar is expected to be in residence for 6-12 months.
Salary and Benefits:
1. Salary will be competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointments will be made under the establishment of CHUK-Shenzhen and statutory benefits will be provided according to the prevailing labor laws applicable in the PRC. Salary may also be negotiable if the applicants are particularly outstanding.
2. Benefits provided by the University/Institute include house renting allowance, bonus, paid sick leave, insurance, regular health check, free shuttle service, etc. The children of CUHKSZ employees will have the opportunity to be enrolled to affiliated schools or kindergartens.
Location:
The appointee will be based at the University campus in Shenzhen, or other sites in Qianhai area.
